And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
—John 12:32 KJV
God is all about relationships. Yes, I’m focusing on relationships because we’re in February and relationships get a lot of attention around this time of year. But, really, your relationship with God should be important every moment of every day.
WHAT DO RELATIONSHIPS AND MAGNETS HAVE IN COMMON?
Relationships are built when people, things or animals have something in common. I think of this like two magnets that are attracted to each other. There’s an invisible force called polarity that pulls magnets with the opposing poles together.
OPPOSITES ATTRACT
This makes me think of how a righteous God is attracted to sinful people. God doesn’t like sin—He hates it. But He loves the ones who are trapped by sin. And since God is the world’s first problem-solver, He had to find a way to draw sinful people back to Himself.
Now, if you’ve got two magnets around, try doing what I’m about to describe. Take them and put them close together. You’ll notice that they only stick together when they’re close enough. You can’t hold them at arms length apart and expect them to come together, right?
It’s the same thing with God.
The only way He could draw us to Himself was to get close enough so we could feel the power of His love.
That’s why Jesus had to come down to Earth–to let us feel the force of His divine magnetism and be drawn unto Him.
The big question
So ask yourself this question—have you responded to the pull of God in your heart? If not… make today the day. Leave a comment or prayer request and I’ll be happy to remember you in prayer.
Radically yours,
