It was 2001. For almost two years prior, my sister and I had shared a one bedroom apartment with a close friend while my family battled sickness and financial hardship.
I was 15 and had doubled up in my classes to graduate from a school district to which I was new. But in the midst of the chaos, God had a teacher in place who made a real difference.
Her writing prompts, support—and sometimes cynical sense of humor—somehow helped me navigate life.
So, to Mrs. Gravino and all the other educators out there that are making a difference in some teen’s life—THANK YOU!
P.S. Each day gives all of us a chance to make a difference. Be the light in someone’s life today. You never know how much of an impact you’ll have.
