The Praying Parent Powerhouse

I’m sure that every Christian parent feels concern about their child’s spiritual life at some point or another. It’s quite natural. God Himself was touched by that concern when He ran through the Garden of Eden, screaming,

“Adam, Adam, where are you?”

When our child strays, the question each parent needs to ask is not, “why is this happening?” but “what am I going to do about it?”

It might seem that we parents are powerless, that a permissive world, which is quick to label Christian parents as “judgmental”, is too strong.

But that’s a lie.

Each Christian praying parent is a spiritual power house, a vortex of faith and courage.

We are equipped with the ability to contact God.

We are empowered by the Holy Spirit.

We are dynamic individuals, built to call on God until He answers and touches the lives of those we love.

Being a powerhouse is no easy job.

Like Thomas, the faithful father in  In the Shadow of Your Wings,  we are called to give of ourselves, to support our children in prayer, to stand firm in our principles while loving them unconditionally.

The process can be emotionally draining. But, like any powerhouse, change is only accomplished when we give everything we have.

Don’t stop praying. Sooner or later, that prodigal will come home.
